Cloud computing

Firstly I would to thank my senior Priyank Sharma and Ishaan Sharma from my college for giving me an idea about writing article on cloud computing, providing me the resources to write this article, explaining me what actually Cloud Computing is? And guiding me whenever and where-ever I faced any difficulties.

Well wondering these days where & when these computing revolutions will end???

Innovation is necessary to ride the inevitable tide of change .The answer to the above question seems out of my imagination right now, but surely one thing I can say right now is that this computing revolution is right now in its fifth phase. Sooner we are going to witness the launch of fifth generation devices in the era of computers. These devices would be most common configured devices in terms of software & hardware, with the best connectivity technologies to integrate the large scale use of internet and how can I forget the name of the technology that is a complete revolution these days, i.e. “CLOUD COMPUTING”

It would not be wrong to call :”Cloud is a metaphor to world of Internet”. In other words cloud computing technology is next generation internet based integration of online Operating systems, Database & Development platforms.
Now a question might arise to your minds:
what is all this cloud all about?
What is windows azure, cloudo , i-cube, eyeos?

Introduction:
To begin Introduction to Cloud, The first thing that comes to my mind on hearing the word “Cloud” is the onset of rains. So I thought that because cloud in general terms relate to the raining season and all that happiness rains bring to the people after a long 4 months Summer season here in India. So is the case with cloud in terms of computing world bringing joy to lives of users after a long 4 generations of computing technology. As Clouds are far away from the surface of Earth so is the case with the cloud computing service providers. They are located at distant places but bringing joys to our lives in terms of solving our major problems, related to portability and security of information, which has been a major concern for people these days. Well onset of computing technology cloud or cloud computing is as of now the answer to both of these problems. It is more applicable to the portability problem rather than the security problem. The portability problem is almost solved these days with the use of cloud services but the security of data is still a major concern these days as the data would be maintained by the others. “Nobody can take care of our things in a more better than how we can take care”. So is the case with data stored at data centres in our views.
Well today many of us might be using remote desktop applications like TeamViewer or Virtual desktop remote to access data from our pc from anywhere around the world. But the major difference between cloud and using these applications is that today our data is stored at our place, but cloud allows storing of data at service provider’s data center. so the need buy a computer with say Intel core i7 processor, buying all licensed version software (OS included),terabytes of secondary storage memory is totally reduced to buying a device with say best connectivity solutions and a normal processor with some RAM and larger bandwidth internet connection, Which will also help us to save lot of money.
What actually cloud is??
In the future all application you use, can be accessed from anywhere, from any device. You will no longer have to carry your documents everywhere, instead you will be able to access them on any connecting device. You can work from home also allowing you to spend more time with people, who count the most for you in your life. Any cloud based services is the answer to your problems

A cloud is a pool of virtualized computer resources. Cloud computing also provides data Independency through which people can manage their data online and use their remote desktop application from any place. Cloud computing also provides software as a service where the user can use the software as per the demand without installing them into the local machine.

Cloud Computing is very helpful for the user who wants to use the software temporarily and don’t want to buy the software.

Cloud also provides the abstract concept of communication as a service which is the important part of the project. User can communicate with other user by using services like e-mail, texts, voice calling and chat services.

Cloud services relates to centralized data stored in large data centres, which can be accessed from anywhere and is much easier to manage and protect than massive decentralized data storage

Cloud is integration of:
1) Cloud based Operating System
2) Distant Data storage facility
3) Developer’s platforms
A cloud based Operating system is same as any server based Operating System (windows server 2008 or Linux), which is generally installed at servers providing solutions. Here cloud based operating system takes the place of Sever based Operating System. This type of operating systems allows using any client based operating systems and co-operate with the client based operating system like Computers (Windows, Linux, Unix, Macintosh and many more) and Mobile devices(Android, Symbian, Windows mobile, IOS, Blackberry and more to name) to provide services and access of data. This helps users to use their current Operating system and migrate to the cloud platform. This operating system provides a virtual image of computers in user’s mind. You seem to be using computer on your personal computers, laptops, mobile or tablet device
A distant data storage facility is same as the integration of data storage hardware devices and database applications. This allows storing of data at service provider’s data centres.
Developer’s platforms are platforms allowing development of new applications. Today mostly all cloud based service providers offer development of application on any platform (.NET, java, python, ruby, E.R.P. , PHP, Android, Blackberry, IOS).Still development of applications on all platforms are not available with every cloud based service providers but with time and development on cloud based applications will solve this problem in near future
Service providers:
Well today there too many cloud service providers
Traditional IT(Microsoft , IBM , Sun , AT&T, Apple)
Pure Play cloud ( Joyent, Heroku)
Managed Hosting (Rackspace, Terremark)
Adjacent business (Google, Amazon, Intuit)
Engine Yard, Force ,Skytap ,VMware, GoGrid

Advantages of using cloud:
1) Save lots of money
2) Faster and cheaper use of applications
3) No money required for setting up servers and data centres
4) No operational expenses for maintaining data centres
5) Applications can be accessed from anywhere anytime
6) Portability of data
7) No need to install Software

Disadvantages of using cloud:
1) Not suitable for real-time applications
2) Security of data
3) Non-existence of equivalent cloud applications
4) Higher bandwidth needs
5) Retrieval of data in case of failures at service provider’s Data centre
Conclusion:
In today's global competitive market, companies must innovate and get the most from its resources to succeed. This requires enabling its employees, business partners, and users with the platforms and collaboration tools that promote innovation. Cloud computing infrastructures are next generation platforms that can provide tremendous value to companies of any size. They can help companies achieve more efficient use of their IT hardware and software investments and provide a means to accelerate the adoption of innovations. Cloud Computing helps in improving resource utilization. Costs are driven down by delivering appropriate resources only for the time those resources are needed. Cloud computing has enabled teams and organizations to streamline lengthy procurement processes.

Cloud computing enables innovation by alleviating the need of innovators to find resources to Develop, test, and make their innovations available to the user community. Innovators are free to focus on the innovation rather than the logistics of finding and managing resources that enable the innovation.Cloud computing is still in its development phase right now, it would not be fair to take into account dis-advantages of using cloud based services but still need to improve cloud based service arises.
